A “system dump” of Sony’s upcoming Xperia i1 (codename Honami) has recently hit the internet. Think of a “system dump” as a copy/paste of all the files that are on a device. Anyway, said files reveal serval things about the phone, most notably is confirmation that it will indeed have a 20 megapixel camera. There’s also “SteadyShot” support, which is Sony’s marketing term for optical image stabilization.

Other cool things: Support for 4K video recording, though at the weird resolution of 4,000 x 2,000 pixels. Confirmation that the Snapdragon 800 will be powering this thing. A new app called “Info Eye”, which will preform a visual search using images you capture with the camera. A new Walkman music application. And a whole bunch of visual tweaks to Sony’s Android skin.

When will the i1 be announced? That’s a good question. Sony has an event due to take place in just three days in France, but the device featured in the invitation is clearly an Xperia Z Ultra, so I don’t really know what to tell you. Then again, why would Sony hold an event in Paris to demo a phone they’ve already demoed in the UK, Germany, Russia, and China in June?

Your guess is as good as mine.
