According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung will provide monitors and tablets that’ll be used by referees to review disputed calls in the 2013-2014 season, which starts today. Previously, the league used Haier and HP to supply the necessary electronics for sideline reviews.

Besides providing the hardware, the NBA contract also includes a nice bonus for Samsung device owners. As part of the deal, the NBA is going to optimize video content specifically for Samsung devices, including televisions. This means Samsung owners will get some sweet playback footage that won’t show up on competitor’s devices.
