At this point we don’t really know much about what Apple plans to do to the iPad Mini. We have heard rumors that it will get a Retina Display and also rumors that a Retina Display iPad Mini won’t be coming until next year due to supply chain constraints.

According to images that have popped up on the Chinese site Weibo though, we might be able to gather that the iPad Mini 2 will feature Touch ID, 64-bit support and even ship in Gold.

Sonny Dickson has even chimed in over Twitter to state that the iPad Mini 2 will have the same processor as the iPhone 5s, complete with a M7 motion coprocessor.

Dickson also believes that the iPad Mini 2 will come in the same color palette as the iPhone 5s: space gray, silver and gold.

Although the iPad Mini shipping in gold shouldn’t come as a surprise considering how popular the gold iPhone 5s was, shipping with an A7 processor should.

You would think Apple would want to keep costs down and put an A6 processor in the iPad Mini 2, but what is likely the case is just like when Apple introducing the Lightning cable it wants as many devices having a 64-bit architecture as possible. So that the iOS ecosystem as a whole can evolve.
