Inventory system “confirms” ASUS is making the next Nexus 10, said to cost around £350

Last year in late October, Google announced a $399 10 inch Nexus tablet that was manufactured by Samsung with an eye popping resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels. The device was powered by a dual core Samsung made ARM Cortex A15 chip too, which made it crazy fast. Seeing as how nearly every company in the technology industry is on a yearly refresh cycle, the question most often asked these days is when’s the new Nexus 10 coming out?

According to a screenshot from the inventory systems of a British electronics vendor called “PCWorld”, the answer is soon. But more importantly, it’s not going to be another Samsung device. No, instead it will be made by ASUS, the same company that made both the first and second generation Nexus 10. The price in said inventory system is £350, which comes out to $565, but I have a hard time believing that Google will offer the 2013 Nexus 10 for more than $399; $449 max.

Circling back to the question of when, Google is expected to hold an event next month to announce Android 4.4 KitKat. Little is known about 4.4 except for the name. While it’s pretty much guaranteed that a new Nexus smartphone will be announced there, there’s also a small possibility that this new ASUS tablet will be shown there as well.

Let’s wait and see.
