Could Google Be Bringing Google Now To Chrome For Mac OS X?

Fans of Google Now rejoice! Thanks to a brief log description of a now closed Chrome issue, “[Mac][MC] Implement notification updates and relayouts.” We have evidence of planned enhancements for the Chrome notification centre on Mac OS X.

This was first spotted by a Google Plus user by the name of François Beaufort who stated “Mac users will be happy to know that rich notifications are being implemented on Mac.” He also shared a composite image of the notification center that you can see below.

The Notification Center is considered a prerequisite for Google Now and according to Beaufort is, “still under heavy development.” This feature was first ported to Chromium and then Chrome Canary for Windows back in March, but this is the first time it has been spotted one Mac.

Google recently released Google Now for iOS into its Search App, so it wouldn’t be completely out of the question for the Search Engine giant to bring it to its desktop browser as well. With Google I/O 2013 scheduled for May 15-17 at San Francisco’s Moscone West, it could be something Google announces. We will have to wait and see.
