CloudOn Now Available For Desktop

CloudOn Now Available For Desktop

CloudOn was one of the first services to bring Office to the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Available as a free app, CloudOn ports Microsoft’s suite to Apple devices through the use of a server.

CloudOn, available also for Android, is now available for desktop users in the form of a web app. To start using it (and creating Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents) you just need to register here using Safari or Internet Explorer – an email and a password will be enough to create a free account.

CloudOn Register

Once you register and log in, you’ll find a sidebar with five options: Files, Recent, Support, Settings and Log out. In the Files area you’ll be able to log in to cloud services such as SkyDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive. When you link your device with your accounts you’ll get access to all the files stored in the cloud.

Recent will show you a list of files lately edited; Settings enables you to change your password and will soon allow you to subscribe for access to more features. You can also delete your account.

To create a document, select a cloud service and click on the “+” button – you’ll find it on the upper right corner. You’ll be able to create folders to manage new documents.

In case you want to edit a document, the pen symbol on the upper right corner enables you to enter the “Office mode” with all the tools you’d expect from a document processor (italics, bold, font, etc).

CloudOn is really fast and easy to use, with an elegant interface, making a great – and free – solution to avoid paying for a pricey Office 365 subscription ($100 a year).

Have you tried CloudOn? Do you like it? Let us know in the comments section below.
