Ooops, it looks like someone is in trouble!
Last night a verified account for the Chinese carrier China Telecom posted an advertisement for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on Weibo. Although the post was quickly pulled, The Wall Street Journal managed to snag what China Telecom had to say about Apple’s new iPhones it will unveil on September 10th.
China has been chosen as the first country where the iPhone 5S/5C will be shipped! Weibo preorder time! If you want to be one of the people who gets a handset on day one, click here.
Those who successfully preorder will also enjoy a high-end gift bag. Because the iPhone products haven’t actually shipped yet, detailed numbers and actual shipping information may change
UnwiredView was able to put together an infographic of the images China Telecom shared briefly on Weibo before the post was deleted. The most surprising thing about the pictures is that they show off an iPhone 5C that isn’t plastic like we have been expecting due to various leaks. Instead the iPhone 5C appears to have the same backing as the iPhone 5, except with a colored anodized metal section.
It’s very likely that the images China Telecom posted were mockups or filler images until pictures of the real deal are available, because making a “budget iPhone” with the same components of the iPhone 5 would be very difficult. Still this is yet again more evidence we will see two new iPhones announced during Apple’s September 10th media event.
