When it comes to flash storage, options have been lacking on the iMac. Previously, the 21.5-inch iMac was not available to have a dedicated flash drive, it was only able to ship with a 1TB traditional hard drive or a $250 Fusion Drive. As for the 27-inch iMac, Apple did offer an all-flash storage solution, but only as a 768 GB drive which costs a whopping $900.

As MacRumors reports, however, Apple has silently added new storage options to its iMac lineup. These new storage options include either  a 256 GB or 512 GB flash storage drive as part of the order customization process. Selecting a 256GB flash drive will cost you $300, and the 512G flash drive will run you $600. This of course will replace the 1TB traditional hard drive that comes standard across all iMac models.

New iMac Storage Options

Apple’s Fusion drive was supposed to act as a substitute for all-flash storage as it merges a 128 GB flash drive with a 1 TB traditional hard drive to provide quick access for most-used files and apps. For users who are looking for an all-flash storage solution though, Apple is now catering to your needs.

If you are interested in checking out the new configurations, head on over to Apple’s iMac page on its official website.
