Angry Birds Go Transformers, Rovio Unveils The Autobirds

Angry Birds and Transformers are teaming up for a new game and loads of merchandise

The Angry Birds and Transformers franchises have more in common than you’d first think. Both of the now iconic franchises began as one medium branching out further than anyone could ever predict and making a large proportion of their profit through merchandise.

Transformers thrived from the toys originally released alongside the TV series and Angry Birds is everywhere from plush toys to it’s own section at Thorpe Park. Now the franchises are teaming up for a new mobile game and endless amounts of yet more merchandise.

Coming at some point after Angry Birds Stella (which surprisingly is not a beer-themed crossover) is released in September 2014, we can expect to see Angry Birds Go! Transformers hitting the various mobile app stores. Expect to see the Autobirds take on the Deceptihogs in the game alongside a load of new merchandise for the combined brand. It can’t be worse than what Michael Bay has done to the franchise surely?

“We’re really excited to combine the iconic Transformers universe with the quirky world of Angry Birds,” said Blanca Juti, Chief Marketing Officer of Rovio. “This mash-up is going to appeal to both those who grew up with the brand in the 80’s, as well as fans of the brand today. People are going to love it!”
