iPhone 5S Screen Repair Now Available In UK Apple Stores
Apple is finally offering the long-awaited screen repair service in its European Stores, how to fix up your old iPhone
Apple began offering the chance to fix up your Apple display in store last week. It was only available in the US and Canada but a report at the time suggested a European equivalent was also in the pipeline.
Now European stores are offering the service, including those in the UK. It’s unclear if it’s available at all stores in the UK at this time but we can confirm it’s available in the Regent Street store. The news first broke when Germany’s Apfelpage discovered it was available and it took only a few hours to complete.
Beforehand if you walked into an Apple Store with a broken display it would need to be shipped off to get repaired. Now it can all be done in store and at a relatively low cost. AppleCare customers used to have to pay €249 for the repair, now it only costs €149 to do it on site.
In the UK it used to cost £216.44 to do it through AppleCare but now you can do it in store for just £119. You’ll need to book an appointment at the genius bar beforehand though to work out what the problem is.
Apple has offered this service for the iPhone 5C since January 2014. This roll out of the iPhone 5s service comes just mere weeks away from a suspected iPhone 6 announcement.
Apple will have to kick it up a gear to be able to offer the service on the new handsets as well.
