How To Use Samsung Galaxy S5 Heart Monitor
Want to use the heart rate monitor on your Samsung Galaxy S? This is how you do it
Samsung’s Galaxy S5 brought about a bunch of new health features including the S Health app. Hardware wise it installed a heart rate monitor on the back of the handset. It’s not particularly useful for those couch potatoes amongst us but it can sure come in useful if you enjoy a good bit of exercise.
Here we are going to teach you how to use your heart rate monitor on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and get you the most accurate reading whilst you’re out and about getting fit.
Open Up The S Health App
You’ll have an app called S Health installed on your phone, first off we need to find that so you can open it up. You can either search the phone or find it manually by looking out for a symbol of a person running inside a green circle.
Tap Heart Rate
On the left hand side of the app there’s an option for “Heart Rate” which you should tap. It’ll then prompt you to put your finger onto the heart rate sensor. You’ll find that on the back of the handset just below the camera and next to the LED flash.
Take Your Heart Rate
For the best reading use your index finger on the sensor. You need to put it on there but don’t push down, just place it, don’t move and be quiet. As the app prompts you, moving or talking can give an inaccurate reading so it’s best to be silent and sat down. Obviously if you’re out on a run that’s not an option so you’ll just have to make do.
It’ll take a little while but it’ll give you a reading along with the date and time the reading was taken. If you do it on a regular basis you can then track your heart rate over a bunch of different dates.
