Xiaomi Gears Up Four Cool New Gadgets For US Market
20/11/2017 – 6:05pm
Xiaomi’s just started selling four cool new bits of tech via Amazon US, including an Action Cam
Chinese firm Xiaomi is known for being pretty massive and hitting a multitude of tech sectors hard and fast, with a huge catalogue of gadgetsa and devices. Inside its home region of Asia it’s already a well-established powerhouse, but in recent years it’s been pushing more and more of a global presence too. To date, however, it hasn’t had much of a stake in the US market.
Just in time for the Christmas season, Xiaomi is making its way Stateside with a bunch of gadgets that are a little off-the-wall and will be available via Amazon. Four products have been announced, with a fifth on the way.
To start with, Xiaomi is competing with GoPro with its new Xiamoi Mi Sphere camera kit, featuring a 23.88MP 360-degree camera with 3.5K video capture. The price? $300.
Next up, something a bit more esoteric with the Xiaomi Mi Robot Builder Kit, which allows you to fabricate a remote controlled robot with a clip-together and modular Lego-like building method. Pretty versatile as it allows you to fashion cars, trucks, walking dinosaurs or a killer robot on wheeled legs.
You can put together command programs with a bundled-in application, and no coding knowledge is required (this is marketed at kids, although it looks like fun for grown-ups too). It’s pretty pricey for a kids toy at $140.
At $10 cheaper there’s also the Xiaomi Mi Headphones, which are noise-cancelling with a closed-loop audio system, are made from ultra-tough graphene, have a fold-up design and feature a fold-away microphone.
Lastly there’s the 10,000mAh Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro charger, featuring both microUSB and Type-C USB connectors for only $30. Also on November 24, that fifth gadget will become available for $25, which is a set of in-ear headphones, so keep your eyes peeled for those.
