Virgin Media Brings Wi-Fi To Six More Stations
Six more London Underground stations will receive Wi-Fi from April 26
Virgin Media is on a mission to connect the entire London Underground to the internet. It currently has 131 of the 270 stations connected up to Wi-Fi allowing anybody who wants to connect to the internet whilst travelling on the underground.
Six more stations will now be added to that list making 137 stations. Wi-Fi will be available through the tickets halls and down onto the platforms at Golders Green, Southgate, West Kensington Parsons Green, Kilburn and East Putney stations.
Currently 800,000 devices are connected to the Virgin Media Wi-Fi services on the tube. It allows superfast connectivity and over one million emails, web pages, Tweets and Facebook posts are sent out every weekday.
In London there’s currently no other way of getting a Wi-Fi service whilst underground.
Joe Lathan, director of broadband at Virgin Media said: “Virgin Media’s WiFi on the London Underground has been a huge success with Londoners and visitors alike so we’re delighted to be connecting even more people in more places.”
“We’re working with TfL and our wholesale partners to deliver a fantastic experience across the capital and make catching up on emails, checking for travel updates or sending a Tweet easier than ever before.”
If you’ve got a Virgin Media service you can connect to the Wi-Fi for free. If not you can get various passes for the service. A daily pass is £2, weekly is £5 or you can currently buy a whole two months for £15.
