In an apparent bid to regain some face after the Galaxy Note 7 “explosiongate” fiasco, Samsung has now revealed an upgrade program for former owners of its short-lived combustible phablet. Called Galaxy Upgrade, the program allows users who trade their Galaxy Note 7 in for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 EDGE to receive an upgrade to the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 when they launch next year.

Interestingly, this gives away Samsung’s plans for a Galaxy S8, which we already knew about, however, there were rumours of the Note series being abandoned, so plans for a Note 8 are somewhat surprising.

The upgrade plan will not be free, however, it will mean that users will only pay 50% of the price of their Galaxy S7 to get the new Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 on arrival. At the moment Samsung has only announced this plan for users in South Korea.

“In offering the Note 8 upgrade option, Samsung indirectly reinforced previous statements that the Note series will not be discontinued. The company said the availability of such a program in other markets will be dependent on the situation in each country. It did not elaborate,” said a Reuters report.

For the program in South Korea, it will be open until November 30 2016 – users who’ve already exchanged their Note 7 units in the region will also be eligible for the program.

“The Galaxy Upgrade program has no monthly fees like the existing Galaxy Club program,” says a report from SamMobile.

In an obvious bid to regain some face after the Galaxy Note 7 "explosiongate" fiasco, Samsung has now published an improve program for former house owners of its short-lived flamable phablet. Referred to as Galaxy Upgrade, this system lets in customers who industry their Galaxy Note 7 in for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 EDGE to obtain an improve to the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 once they release subsequent yr.

Apparently, this provides away Samsung's plans for a Galaxy S8, which we already knew about, on the other hand, there have been rumours of the Note collection being deserted, so plans for a Note 8 are rather unexpected.

The improve plan is probably not loose, then again, it's going to imply that customers will most effective pay 50% of the cost of their Galaxy S7 to get the brand new Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 on arrival. These days Samsung has best introduced this plan for customers in South Korea.

"In providing the Note 8 improve choice, Samsung not directly strengthened earlier statements that the Note collection may not be discontinued. The corporate stated the supply of one of these program in different markets shall be dependent at the state of affairs in each and every nation. It didn't elaborate," stated a Reuters document.

For this system in South Korea, it's going to be open till November 30 2016 - customers who have already exchanged their Note 7 devices within the area can also be eligible for this system.

"The Galaxy Upgrade program has no per month charges like the prevailing Galaxy Membership program," says a record from SamMobile.
