Because if you’ve bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, you’ll definitely want to keep it in tip-top condition with a case!
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a big, slippery smartphone, so it stands to reason that you’d want to protect it in some way. A case is often the first thing new mobile owners purchase after they’ve taken possession of a fresh blower, and we’ve picked out four examples we think you should consider for your lovely new Note 8.
Galaxy Note 8 Protective Standing Cover – £34.99 (MobileFun)
One of the best official options out there is this rubber-style cover, which not only provides excellent all-round protection but also boasts a handy kickstand on the rear. You can use this when you’re watching movies on that massive AMOLED display, turning your phone into a portable cinema. The kickstand feels robust enough and clicks into place nicely when not in use; in fact, it blends so well with the overall design you wouldn’t know it was there were it not for the small indent where your fingernail goes to open it up. While this case does bulk up the phone quite a bit, we’d gladly take that in exchange for superior protection.
VRS Design Damda Glide Galaxy Note 8 Case – £24.99 (MobileFun)
With this case equipped your Galaxy Note 8 looks a bit like a Transformer – this is one seriously slick product. The inner section is rubber for maximum protection, but it is clad in a secondary hard plastic shell for additional safety. The big selling point of this case is a slide-out compartment on the rear in which you can stow your credit cards – handy for those of you who don’t quite trust services like Android Pay and Samsung Pay to look after all of your card details. This is another bulky case but the design is really eye-catching, and that compartment is genuinely useful, too.
Olixar X-Duo Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Case – £19.99 (MobileFun)
The first of the two Olixar cases we’re reviewing comes in two parts – a rubberised internal skin with a plastic section which fits around the edges, at the points most likely to make contact with hard surfaces. The rubber is grippy and reduces the likelihood of accidental dropping, but the gold-effect plastic might not be to everyone’s tastes. Thankfully other colours are available. The cheapest option in our round-up, the X-Duo is well worth a look if you want a slim case that doesn’t break the bank.
Olixar Sentinel Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Case and Glass Screen Protector – £29.99 (MobileFun)
Olixar’s other offering is unique in that it comes with a glass screen protector which sticks onto the front of the phone with adhesive, offering all-around protection. We were a little sceptical about this element of the package but when in place it’s actually hard to tell it’s there – the protector is designed to blend in seamlessly with the front of the Note 8. The case itself is a fairly standard rubber-style skin, but it offers good protection on all four corners without making the handset feel too large. The only real downside is the price; this is around £10 more expensive than other unofficial case options, but you might consider that a price worth paying for 360-degree protection.
