OnePlus 3 Pricing Revealed
The OnePlus 3 is still expected to arrive in June but will reportedly start from $310
There have been earlier rumours that the OnePlus 3 would come in two different variants with different amounts of RAM, allegedly 4GB and 6GB, but we’ve heard very little on the subject since…until now that is. A report from Chinese website Gizmochina claims to have heard from OnePlus employees about the forthcoming flagship, and it’s been stated once again that there will be a duo of variants; the tipster said that the 4GB and 6GB models are correct and both will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, the former will pack 32GB of onboard storage while the latter will bump it up to 64GB. Nothing was mentioned on expandable storage via microSD or any other specs at this stage, however, the pricing was revealed at CN¥1,999, which is about £210 or $310, cheaper, in fact, than the OnePlus 2’s launch RRP. The source didn’t specify which model has this cost, but it’s usually safer to assume this is the starting price, therefore the cost of the base 32GB/4GB RAM model, and that the 64GB/6GB RAM variant will be a bit more expensive.
Based on earlier comments from OnePlus execs, it’s expected the OnePlus 3 will be launched in “late Q2” with June being specifically mentioned. Earlier rumours said the handset will feature a metal bodyshell and will come in multiple display variants, but we’ve seen no further mention of this in subsequent leaks and rumours – a few sets of benchmarks have leaked but have only detailed a 5in 1080p display.
This is, of course, all unofficial right now. OnePlus has historically been quite open and vocal about in-development flagships, indeed this has been a core component of the company’s style and brand; that it generates interest and hype by discussing what it is working on with its fans on the offical forums and via social networking. Things have been a little quiet on the subject of the OnePlus 3 though, so we’re wondering if there’s been some adjustment on the firm’s methods. Hopefully not, and hopefully we will hear something official soon.
