Nokia 8 Design, Specs & Price LEAK

A batch of new leaked details and images have revealed the Nokia 8’s design, specs, and pricing

Possibly the biggest Nokia 8 leak to date has revealed a handful of alleged official Nokia/HMD promotional materials showcasing the design of the phone. If the leaked materials are accurate, they indicate we’re looking at a very classy flagship designed along similar lines to many other lead flagships inside 2017.

The images were leaked by CNMO and show a phone which does, to a certain extent, follow Nokia’s traditional design language; on the whole it’s quite angular with lots of flat surfaces, however, it does sport that current flagship style of having curved and rounded edges, as well as a near bezel-less display. However, it’s not clear whether we’re looking at a true curved display that wraps around the edges – like the Galaxy S8 – or if it finishes very tight into the flat front fascia and the curved edges are just shaped glass, with no screen underneath. It wouldn’t be the first time Nokia has used OLED, but it would be the first time for curved flexible OLED.

Given that the world’s leading supplier of curved and flexible OLED – Samsung – is reportedly having trouble supplying enough units to Apple for the iPhone 8, on top of its own Galaxy devices, somehow we doubt Nokia has got in and pinched enough flexible screens.

The leak shows we’re lookingt at Type-C USB connectivity via the baseplate, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The source also puts forward some specs, including a 6in display with a 2K resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 128GB of onboard storage, and 6GB of RAM. Quite the beast.

A price is also given at 3188 Chinese Yuan, which is $469 or £361; somehow we doubt it will be this cheap in Western markets though, unless Nokia/HMD are trying to pull a OnePlus manoeuvre.

There’s currently no word on when the Nokia 8 might launch, and naturally Nokia and HMD are keeping tight-lipped about things. That said, if promotional materials and prices are being bandied about we expect a launch is being prepped for relatively soon-ish, so perhaps by the end of Summer, or during Autumn, we’ll see an announcement.
