Huawei is preparing a Huawei Mate 10 model to succeed the Huawei Mate 9, according to reports.

Huawei's premium offerings have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and along with its firm grasp of the affordable devices market, particularly in Asia, the firm has secured itself as the third highest-selling smartphone brand in the world right now.

Amongst the higher-end catalogue, the Huawei P-series has consistently impressed, with the most recent being the Huawei P10. However, as good as the lead model is, it's the Huawei Mate phablet series which, in our experience, always tends to be the heavy hitter that leaves a longer lasting impression.

According to tipster site Yesky, the Huawei Mate 10 will launch in October, in-line with the series' previous launches in the Autumn period. It's claimed the entire front fascia will be taken up by the display panel, in keeping with the trend set by Samsung on the Galaxy S8, LG with the G6, and apparently the Apple iPhone 8. Whether the Mate 10 will attempt to out-do these phones with even thinner bezels, or if it will simply meet the standard they've set, remains to be seen.

While some of the details remain hazy, it's believed the phone will use a 6in JDI Full Active display with a 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution.

As per usual with Huawei's devices, the handset apparently uses the firm's own Kirin processor design, this time the Kirin 970 which is made on a 10nm semiconductor architecture, meaning it should be on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Samsung's latest Exynos.

Other tipped specs and features include 3D sensor and iris scanner technology and a dual-camera sensor, though whether it will be a return of the firm's partnership with Leica is up in the air. Lastly, it's said to have built-in Augmented Reality (AR) features.

If previous Huawei Mate launches are anything to go by we also expect massive amounts of battery power, storage, and RAM crammed into the larger form factor.
