HTC One X9 Takes SHAPE: QHD Display & 23MP Camera Tipped
HTC One X9 flagship in the works with high-end camera and display
It may not be very nice, but we think it’s fair to say that the HTC One M9 was a bit of a flop. It wasn’t well-received critically and it didn’t sell in big numbers either. Ever since it landed there have been tons of rumours about what HTC would do next; there have been several rumoured flagships, but the rumours keep shifting. HTC execs have stated publicly that the firm needs to do better and will produce an improved flagship. So far, however, HTC has only launched a handful of new devices and none of them have been aimed at the high-end flagship sector.
Well following on from those flagship rumours that seem to have withered and died, word has emerged of another one – with a completely different name as the One X9, and a new set of specs. The good news is it’s sounding very flagshippy indeed, with the processor apparently still to be decided but the choice is said to be between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 or the ten-core Mediatek Helio X20. Similarly, the display is claimed as a QHD setup, but the rumour doesn’t detail the display size, so we’ve no idea how that translates in terms of pixel density.
It’s believed to be carrying 4GB of RAM to back the processor up, plus options for onboard storage including 64GB and 128GB. The camera is sounding suitably meaty, apparently almost rivalling Sony’s Xperia Z5 setup with a 23MP primary. There’s a 3,500mAh battery onboard and HTC’s old favourite things like BoomSound stereo front speakers and a metal unibody are also making a return.
According to the report via Weibo, the handsets codenumber is designated as E56 (one to watch out for on benchmarks and database entries) and it’ll cost around $470.
