HTC One M8 AND HTC One M7 Android Lollipop Update CONFIRMED
A rumour suggests HTC’s recent flagships will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop on January 3
HTC set itself a difficult task –– it said it would release Android Lollipop for the HTC One M8 within 90 days of getting the source code from Google. It then shared an update to say it received the source code on November 4, so, if you do the math that means there is a self-imposed deadline of February 2 2015.
HTC doesn’t have the best history of rolling out the updates nice and early, it usually spends a lot of time on its Sense UI before releasing it to the masses.
This time around it looks like HTC is going to pull it out of the bag nice and early though. According to TechTastic the update will be coming on January 3. The site gained the news after speaking to representatives at a HTC event in London whilst several other sources have also corroborated the information as well.
All HTC shared was the update will be coming to both the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 on January 3. There was no news on if it’ll be a worldwide roll out but the fact the information is from London suggests at least the UK will see the new update first.
There wasn’t any news on the next version of the Sense UI but previous leaks have shown off what the Material Design inspired interface will look like. As predicted there are some big changes but it looks nothing like the beautiful stock UI you’ll find on the Nexus products.
It looks like HTC owners will be kicking off the year with a brand new update, but what about everyone else? For a look at all the Android Lollipop roll out details so far, head on over to our round up here.
