Apple iOS 8.4 With Apple Music Rolling Out From June 30
Apple’s music streaming service will land on June 30 aboard the iOS 8.4 update
Apple has announced that it will begin rolling out the iO 8.4 update to compatible devices starting at 8am Pacific Time on June 30.
The update will include a new version of the Apple Music application featuring Apple’s new music streaming service. The Beats 1 streaming radio channel will also go live on the same day, which is a 24/7 international radio channel featuring big name DJs contributing from around the world. Apparently Zane Lowe will be doing it from LA while Julie Adenuga will be hosting from London, amongst others.
Apple Music’s streaming service will kick off with a three-month free trial program, but once that’s through you’ll need to fork out $9.99 per month for an individual, or you can grab a six-person subscription for $14.99 per month. The sub will also include access to Apple’ Connect social media site for fans and artists to interact.
Apple’s Eddy Cue also revealed via Twitter that the firm will be releasing a new build of the iOS 9 beta for users who already have it installed on their smart devices. This new version will enable the new Apple Music application and streaming services.
Aside from the obviously massive emphasis on Apple Music and streaming, not a great deal has been revealed about what to expect from iOS 8.4 other than the usual expected stability improvements, bugfixes and optimisations. However, there’s a good reason for that because of course iOS 9 is coming fairly soon aboard the next iPhone, likely around September time, with a whole bunch of new features, including public transport mapping services and improved keyboard functionality to name but a few. It’s believed iOS 8.4 will be the last major update for iOS 8, however, Apple Pay is set to arrive in the UK in July so there will likely be an update for that too.
