However, the report states that there’s a bit of a holdup, because Sterling is currently recovering from a groin strain he suffered one month ago, when Man City went up against Manchester United. If Sterling can get better in time to be named to Roy Hodgson’s team in France by this summer, in time for the championship games, Sterling will have the ambassador role.
Apple’s global sports ambassador roster already includes such names as American professional tennis player Serena Williams, F.C. Barcelona forward Neymar da Silva Santos Junior and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
