Facebook Launches ‘Workplace’ to Take on Slack with Private Social Networks for companies
But the time for betas is over, as the social network has officially announced that its new, business-focused service, “Workplace” is now rolling out to the public. According to the announcement, over 1,000 organizations across the globe are already using Workplace right now, with the United States, India, Norway, the United Kingdom, and France leading the charge. Workplace is also available on the web.
Built-in core features of the Facebook experience, including Messenger, Groups, and Facebook Live are all present in Workplace, and the profiles that are associated with employees within the branched social network are separate from the employee’s personal account.
“This means you can chat with a colleague across the world in real time, host a virtual brainstorm in a Group, or follow along with your CEO’s presentation on Facebook Live,” writes the social networking behemoth.
Just like Apple, Facebook has also partnered with Deloitte as well as with other technology and professional service organizations on the Workplace Partner Program to help other companies get started with Workplace.
Workplace also features a single sign-in feature, better IT integration, analytics, and a separate Workplace chat app for iOS that launched as well.
