Apple Registers Three New Macs Ahead of ‘Hello Again’ Event
The documents found in the Eurasian Economic Commission database mention model numbers that cannot be linked to existing hardware: A1706, A1707 and A1708.
It’s not possible to discover from the regulatory filing which model number is associated with which device, but as it stands it’s expected two of those devices will be redesigned MacBook Pro units, while one of them is rumored to be a 13-inch MacBook — which could be a redesigned 13-inch MacBook Air.
However, based on the findings, it would seem to line up with previous rumors at this point. That includes a recent report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that he believes Apple’s “Hello Again” event will primarily focus on the redesigned 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro devices. Those are expected to launch with an OLED touch bar above the keyboard (which could be called the “Magic Toolbar”), a Touch ID sensor, and USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 ports. It could also include a MagSafe-like USB Type-C adapter. Some rumors have suggested the new MacBook Pros will also feature the butterfly keyboard, which Apple launched with the 12-inch MacBook last year.
New MacBook Pros should sport an OLED touch bar with programmable shortcuts that could change from one app to another, a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button, low-profile keys with the butterfly keyboard design introduced on the MacBook in 2015, Intel’s Skylake processors, a new option of 2TB SSD storage and more.
